Job Requirements/Description

Senior Structural Engineer / Associate Engineer
Location: Sheffield
Salary: Competitive, Dependent on Experience

My client is currently seeking a highly motivated and experienced Senior Structural Engineer (or Associate Engineer) to join a dynamic and growing team based in a newly renovated office in central Sheffield. This is an exciting opportunity to work within a small but ambitious team, with a range of projects in the industrial and retail sectors.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and manage small to medium-sized structural projects, ensuring high-quality deliverables and client satisfaction.
  • Take responsibility for technical calculations, design, and delivery across various structural projects, including refurbishments and new builds.
  • Collaborate closely with senior leadership and junior team members to provide technical expertise and mentorship.
  • Act as a bridge between senior management and junior staff, helping to drive project delivery and manage day-to-day tasks.
  • Support larger, high-profile projects, including supermarket frameworks, industrial builds, and retail developments.
  • Conduct site visits and investigations to provide solutions for refurbishment work and assess structural issues in existing buildings.
  • Ensure compliance with UK standards, codes of practice, and relevant regulations.
  • Manage client relationships and communicate effectively with stakeholders.

About You:

  • A Chartered Engineer (CEng) or close to achieving this status, with at least 5 years of experience in structural engineering.
  • Strong technical competence in the design and delivery of structural projects, ideally in the industrial or retail sectors.
  • Experience with UK building standards, construction methods, and materials, particularly in the context of refurbishment and investigation work.
  • Ability to manage your own small projects and assist with larger, complex projects.
  • Strong communication skills, capable of managing client relationships and providing clear guidance to junior team members.
  • Highly motivated, with a willingness to take on responsibility and autonomy in your role.
  • A team player, able to collaborate and support a growing team in a positive and dynamic working environment.

What We Offer:

  • A flexible working environment, with a hybrid structure, although we would like to see you in the office as much as possible.
  • An exciting range of projects with variety, including large-scale industrial projects (e.g., automated systems for major global brands) and retail work for prominent UK supermarkets.
  • An excellent office location in central Sheffield, close to transport links, local amenities, and vibrant food hubs.
  • A supportive and friendly team culture, where your development is valued, and you will have the opportunity to progress towards a managerial or associate role.
  • Competitive salary and benefits package, including barista coffee and access to free prosecco and beer after 2pm.

If you're looking for a new challenge in a growing and supportive team with an excellent work-life balance, we want to hear from you!
